Fort Edward is located at a strategic position within New York and is located just a few miles from Interstate 87 (The Northway) on Route 4, the gateway to Vermont. The Northway serves as the main travel route from Albany (50 miles to the south) to Montreal, Canada (300 miles to the North), thus making Fort Edward a prime consideration when making a decision to expand business activities.

AMTRAK rail lines travel through the Village of Fort Edward with a historical passenger station that has been recently renovated. Two North and South bound trains make daily stops at Fort Edward. New York City is a pleasurable 4 hours trip along the Hudson River from Fort Edward. |
The Greater Glens Fall Transit System operates bus service from Fort Edward to Glens Fall with local stops in Hudson Falls. In Glens Falls, transfers are available to the malls, Adirondack Community College and the Lake George area.
The New York State thruway Authority operates the New York Canal System which has a spur from the Hudson River in Fort Edward to Lake Champlain at Whitehall New York. The Hudson River is easily sailed from Fort Edward to New York city and the Atlantic Ocean. From Lake Champlain, the St. Lawrence Seaway is accessible from the northern spur of the canal. Lake Erie is reachable via the canal from a spur in Albany to the lake.
For the air traveler, the Glens Falls Airport is a private field some 20 minutes from Fort Edward. Commercial travel is served from the recently renovated Albany County International Airport which is about 50 minutes away at exit 4 on the Northway.
