Mary Ellen Barlow is a local songwriter, affiliated with BMI, the Nashville Songwriters' Association (NSAI) and the Northeast County Music Association (NECMA).  Having ventured into songwriting in 1991, I consider myself relatively new to the business.

I have several cuts by independent artists and have enjoyed working with other local writers and musicians, such as Paul Gibbs and Michael Flores.  Two Firefighting benefit" songs ("The Volunteer" and "Everyone Cried"), written with Michael Flores raised more than $1,500 for local firefighter's family and an additional $300 for a local fire company.

Both songs are available on cassette with the proceeds gong to the New York State Volunteer Firefighters Museum.  Five of my songs were also recorder with Darlene McCoy for the benefit project for the Prospect Child and Family Center.
