April 23, Wednesday, 7 pm “Washington County

Fair in Fort Edward & Sandy Hill” Program by R. Paul McCarty, Town and Village Historian.  Cronkhite Lecture Series in cooperation with Washington County Historical Society and the Wash. Co. Council on Historic Preservation hosted at Fort Edward Art Center & Archives at 83 Broadway.

Art Center Student Art Show & Senior Scholarship Competition Exhibit by area students at 83 Broadway ~ Public Welcome, FREE Admission ~ Reception, April 27, 7:00 pm, Public Exhibit, Tuesday, April 29, 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

 

April 30, Wednesday, 7 pm “The Millerites of

Washington County” by Charles E. Bailey. Cronkite Lecture Series held at Washington

County Historical Society, Wing-Northup House at

167 Broadway.

 

May 7, Wednesday, 7 pm “Washington County

Opera Houses” by Ann Sattherthwaite.  Cronkhite

Lecture Series held at Fort Edward Art Center &

Archives at 83 Broadway.

 

May 23, Friday 7 pm, Walking Tour of Union Cemetery, Join R. Paul McCarty on an informative walking tour of Union Cemetery and its local inhabitants. Start in central section, north from main gate back to King Monument. Voluntary contribution collected for preservation of Union Cemetery Iron Fence.

 

May 29, Thursday, 5 pm, Riverside Schoolhouse Awards Ceremony& Reception for Outstanding Retired Area Educators-   Public Welcome

Individuals $12.00 – Couples $20.00

 

June 1-July 31 Old Fort House Museum Campus & Gift Shop open for tours 1-5 PM daily, closed July 4.  Admission $5.00 adults; children under 18 and members FREE.

 

 

June 27& 28, Friday & Saturday, Old Fort House Museum Celebration of Heritage Days.

June 28, Saturday 9-4 pm, Garage, book & estate sale.

Old Fort House 1-5 pm – FREE ADMISSION with proof of Fort Edward Residency

 

July 12, Saturday, Founders’ Day – Tribute to Duncan Campbell who died in Fort Edward in 1758 from wounds suffered in the Battle of Ticonderoga.

11:00 am Union Cemetery, new monument dedication.

12:00 pm Luncheon-Summer Buffet with local specialties and special dessert provided by Anvil Restaurant, a Fort Edward tradition, cranberry bread pudding - $12.00 non-members, $10.00 members of FEHA & WCHS with current membership card. Call for reservations 747-9700 or 747-3514. During luncheon, special presentation to David R. Starbuck, recipient of the James R. Cronkhite Award being given by Washington County Historical Society.

1:15 pm. Program on Duncan Campbell by Eileen Hannay at Rogers Island Visitor Center.

 

July 26, Saturday, Annual Country Fair & Antique

Auction.  Arts & Crafts, Antiques & Collectibles, Vendors, Books, Plants & Garage Sale. The museum gift shop will be open. Lunch and refreshments available, and also tours of the museum campus. Auction begins at 10:00 AM (preview 9 AM) Washington County Band to perform at 1:00 PM

 

 

August 1-31, open 1-5 PM daily

Old Fort House Museum, General Admission

$5.00 adult; children under 18, members  FREE.

 

Visit us at the Washington County Fair in the

County Bounty Building, we will join with Historical

Societies from around the county selling hundreds of

books on local history.

 

September  1-30, open 1-5 PM daily, closed Labor Day and Mondays. Old Fort House Museum, General Admission  $5.00 adults; children under 18, members FREE.

 

September 19, Friday, 7 pm. Archeology Dig Program by Dr. David Starbuck at St. James Episcopal Church, 112 Broadway.

 

September 20, Saturday, 7-9 pm. Spirits of the Old Fort House – Come & see more of the ‘Spirits of the Old Fort House’ in the house & outbuildings, who will include James Rogers, A. Dallas Wait, Helena Dewey Little, Josephine Davis Doerhoffer, Solomon Northup and others.

Old Fort House”, in the house & outbuildings, who may include Sarah McNeil, Abigail Rogers Fort, Patt Smyth, and James Rogers.

 

November 20, Thursday, 7:30 pm, Annual Meeting of Fort Edward Historical Association,  Richard Merrill will be on hand to speak on his new book which explores log marks in Hudson River lumbering business.

 

November Wreath and Centerpiece Class, Saturday November 29th, 9:30-3:30,  Fort Edward Art Center, 83 Broadway. Spend a fun and creative day making two unique projects using fragrant balsam greens, learn to make a bow and decorate with ribbons, balls and accessories. Bring gardening gloves and small clipper and/or garden shears. During lunch break, either bring your own or take advantage of fine local eateries. Sponsored by and in cooperation with Saratoga Springs Continuing Education Program. $15.00 payable to Board of Education and $25.00 materials fee payable to instructor Kathleen McCarty.
