The Fort Edward Recreation Department
The Town and Village of Fort Edward's Department of Recreation offers many services to the residents of Fort Edward. Some of the local offerings include a community swimming pool that is open from late June until early September with full time lifeguards on duty. Other recreational activities in Fort Edward include:
- Lighted Little League Park and a Boys Middle League baseball. This Little League Field was the first lighted little league field in the United States.
- Bradley Beach, adjacent to the Little League Park and the Community pool offers a beautiful site for picnicking along the banks of the Hudson River. There is a boat launch available.
- McIntyre Park's proximity to the school and bike trail makes it an ideal location for many activates. The park has tennis and basketball courts, playground equipment and includes two ball fields that are home to the Girl's Softball League.
- The Feeder Canal Bike trail is one of the hidden treasures found in Fort Edward.
- Fort Miller recreational area, located along the banks of the Hudson River, is a unique historically well preserved hamlet. In addition to some great fishing, there are plans to include a ball field, playground and a picnic area to this site.
- And Broadway Bowl is available for both day and evening leagues as well as open bowling.
The Recreation Department offers numerous activities during the summer months for the young folks in Fort Edward as can be seen from the schedule of activities for Summer of 2003 . Other seasonal activities will be posted here in the coming weeks.
There are also quite a few golf courses in close proximity to Fort Edward that offer challenges for the most serious golfer to the novice player. And for those that love the horses, Saratoga Race Track runs in August and it is just 45 minutes from Fort Edward.
